Chuck Ulrich

Chuck Ullrich - Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Ullrich joined the company in 1999 as Vice President & CFO and is responsible for the finance, accounting, insurance/risk management, human resources, information technology, budgeting, capital expenditures, project development, forecasting, and administrative functions of the company. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Ullrich was employed by Mid-Continent Bottlers, Inc. as Vice President & CFO from 1994 to 1999 and as Corporate Controller from 1987 to 1993. From 1982 to 1987, Mr. Ullrich was employed by the public accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche. Mr. Ullrich received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa in 1982. He received his CPA designation in 1982.

Kurt Steiner

Kurt Steiner - Corporate Controller

Since 2016, Mr. Steiner has served the company as Corporate Controller and is responsible for the company’s financial statements, accounting policies and procedures, internal controls, treasury management, hospitality property operations review, franchising operations review, leasing operations review, working capital and other duties of the company. From 2008 to 2016, Mr. Steiner served the company as Assistant Controller and property accountant. Prior to joining the company, he was an accountant with ARG, Inc. from 2006 to 2008. Mr. Steiner received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa in 2006, with a minor in economics.

Michelle Juarez

Michelle Juarez - Assistant Controller

Ms. Juarez started in June 1979 as a waitress at the Iowa Machine Shed and worked every position in the restaurant. By 1981 she was a front of house manager. In 1984 when Grammas Kitchen opened, she became the front of house manager and later became the Chief Operating Executive of Apples River City Café in 1985. After a successful career at Heart of America’s restaurants, she was given the opportunity to move over to the Operations Support Center in 1990. Ms. Juarez currently holds the position of Assistant Controller at Heart of America Group.

Bob Price

Bob Price - Director of Information Technology

Mr. Price joined the company in June of 2003 and is responsible for all aspects of Heart of America Group’s computer systems. Included in this is designing the infrastructure for new properties, PMS and POS systems operations, email, data security and data/network design and maintenance among other computer related activities. Mr. Price has an AA in Computer Science with a business emphasis from Blackhawk College in Moline and has many certifications. He has worked in the IT industry for over 30 years.

Trudy Mclaughlin

Trudy Mclaughlin - Director of Risk Management & Human Resources

Ms. McLaughlin joined Heart of America Group in 1996. In her current role she oversees and implements all aspects of risk management, benefits, compliance and insurance. Ms. McLaughlin has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business from Marycrest College.
