SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Heart of America Group is committed to being more than just located in the communities where our properties reside—we want to be a part of them. Our participation involves both giving our time and monetary donations to help charities and organizations that are also working towards a common goal of making the community a better place. Heart of America is proud to partner with Wildwood Hills Ranch and the United Way on a regular basis. If your charity or organization is interested in a donation, please fill out our donation request form.
Cycles of poverty, abuse, and neglect are a reality for thousands of Iowa children. Founded by Mike and Kim Whalen in 2001, the 400-acre Wildwood Hills Ranch has been committed to helping the children who need it most. Ranch programs prepare around 1,000 at-risk students every year, ages eight to eighteen, with new life skills, confidence, and hope so they can return to their communities and have a transformational impact. We’re building a better world, one child at a time. Each year, Heart of America contributes to the organization—a commitment that earned Mike Whalen the Cornerstone Humanitarian Award from the National Restaurant Association in 2011 for his service at the Ranch.
United Way goes beyond temporary fixes to create lasting change in communities around the world. By bringing people and organizations together around innovative solutions, they impact millions of lives every year. Heart of America has proudly supported United Way through donations and past participation in activities such as the United Way Day of Caring.
